2004-09-20 NEW VP-852, 8-bay RAID Subsystem FIBRENETIX, a leading provider of enterprise class RAID storage subsystems, today announce the shipment of its VP-852 RAID subsystem to the market. Delivering the latest in compact enclosure design and enterprise class features, this 2U, 8-bay RAID subsystem offers dual Ultra320/160 SCSI or 2Gbit Fibre Channel host connections to SATA hard drive technology. Each VP-852 offers up to 3.2 TB of storage capacity. Based on the same innovative technology as Fibrenetix highly successful VP-12 series, users benefit from unsurpassed reliability and data availability. “With the implementation of RAID-6 functionality, Fibrenetix were the first vendor in the market to give true enterprise reliability to an ATA based RAID subsystem.” said Jes Nagel, Fibrenetix Managing Director. “RAID-6 allows two drives to fail without any loss of data, whereas a traditional RAID 5 configuration can only sustain one drive failure before data is lost." At the heart of the VP-852 is Fibrenetix advanced Daytona RAID engine, utilising the new internal PCI express bus from Intel. Performance of up to 235MB/s on an Ultra320 SCSI host connection and 140MB/s on an Ultra160 host connection, makes the VP-852 is one of the fastest RAID subsystems in the industry. Fibrenetix complete VP range offer the latest in centralised management and monitoring features. The VP-852 boasts onboard Ethernet connection and unique embedded RAID management with POP3 and SNMP support.
