2008-12-10 Sony demonstrate HD 1080/60p workflow using Fibrenetix E-Series high performance storage systems
During Inter BEE 2008 in Japan, from 19-21 November, Sony demonstrated 1080/60p workflow using their latest HDCAM SR technology in mode 2x (double the normal HD 1080 frame rate) using Fibrenetix E-Series storage arrays. This performance requirement from a storage system is unprecedented.
HDCAM SR is commonly used for HDTV production. During the last couple of years many primetime network TV shows in the USA and Germany have moved to HDCAM SR as a master recording medium. With the Fibrenetix E-series they can now work securely at high-speed in mode 2x.
Jes Nagel, Fibrenetix CEO says; “We are very proud that Sony decided to use our equipment on the official Sony booth at Inter BEE. We have worked hard over the years to establish Fibrenetix as a premium storage provider, focusing on innovative design and high quality storage systems. This ‘stamp of approval’ from Sony really endorses our product strategy.”
Nagel adds; “Our cooperation with SONY continues to grow. At the BIRTV exhibition in Beijing, China, during early November, Sony also used Fibrenetix equipment to showcase new technology. But more importantly, Sony is fast becoming one of our largest end-users in Japan, as they increasingly use Fibrenetix E-Series storage systems internally in their post production houses.”
